First Annual After Thanksgiving Hike

Here we are in the mountains along the Watcatch Front. It has now become a tradition to go on a After Thanksgiving Hike. As you can see we are all holding in season flowers. This was such a great hike. We were able to get out in the fresh air. And what a view.

Paul and Cami have only one item on their mind. They check facebook about every 30 minutes to check to see if there is an update. Then comes alone a license plate 'I used to have time' 'Now I have twins'

Last but not lease is our camping experience on Labor day with Paul Averett. Right fork of Hobble Creek Canyon, closer to the Diamond Fork side. We had a great time that day. Thanks Paul

Sacramento Airport

So here we were in the Sacramento airport. We must have been late, because they stacked up all the unclaimed suit cases like this. Here I am pointing to mine, [or at least the one I want]. Do you suppose if I grabed one from the bottom that they would stay up. I don't think they would mind if I just took one.

Plus, you should check out the Lincoln FB page http://www.facebook.com/groups/103439523031702/
many good friends where there.

And the photos I posted.

Bingham Mine

We made it to the Bingham Copper mine. It is not called Kennecot. And where does the Rio Tinto fit in? They are the owners of the mine. Anyway you can see the three big tires, and the lines in the mine.

Movie Night

Yes, we had a movie night. Set up a screen in the back yard, invited as many neighbors as possible, had treats, and watched 'Toy Story 2'. I could watch it from back of the screen.

July 4, 2011 Fireworks

Fireworks from Thanksgiving Point. We set up our chairs and found a
good spot by the main road. Looks like I have the settings on the
camera finally figured out. Next I want to try Lightning.

52 Weeks in the Foothills 6-20

Yes, I made it again. I was determined to make my way all the way to Bridal Veil Falls. But instead I made it to the end of the rode.

Actually I made it to the gates. So I went from one gate to another. I really hustled, to get to the end. I started at 2:30 and got home at 5:30. No one told me there were gates.

I did stop and ask one which road to follow. And it seems it is more complicated than it looks. I am to take the right gate, then stay on the ridge. This will take me to Canyon Glen. From there I can take the paved walk way to Bridal Veil Falls.

Well, maybe I will start at Canyon Glen and walk to the gates. Lets see how long this will take.

It seems like I missed a week or two, but I did not miss the rain. The road way still has mud holes to dodge.
I also was informed which road has lots of snakes. I really do not like snakes. So will try to avoid that road.

Enough for now, thanks!

Here is the standard view of Timpanogos. Now I need to get one with the sun in the background.

And here is the other gate looking west. I can take this one and travel to Canyon Glen Park. Remember to stay on the ridge.

52 Weeks 6-2

Finally got back to hiking the trail East of Orem. Just look at the
green grass and alfalfa. I just want to run my finger through the
grass, and put the long stems in my mouth.

Along the way some family joined me. Nils, Becky, Scott, and
Christopher. We only made it to the top, then had to turn around and
come home. But what a great view.

Thanks again to Mike Jones.

My Cars

Well Becky, I still do not know what the 'almost arrest' was, but we have talked about the silver car. I just wanted everyone to know that the silver car ended up in my driveway first.

Plus there is room for one more car.

Thanks for the car.

Christopher in the Mudd

Here is Christopher enjoying the Mud. He went straight to it and did not want to leave. Splashing and splashing. This was great fun. This is what he should have been doing.

We were are Aaron and Angle Petersons home in Springville helping put in Sprinklers. The Huttons were there, but like Rosalie said, 'Where were the Petersons?"

There were better pictures taken, could you send them to me.

This is what I want in a garden

This post stolen from farmer Kevin Browns page
"I've sure enjoyed the rain.  But I'm looking forward to the sun."
-The Dixie Chicks

In the spring I find it is easy to complain about the weather.  It's too wet, and then it seems to cold, too hot, whatever.  What is harder to do is to appreciate the weather and actually work with it.  We can do greenhouse work while the rain pours down outside and when the sun decides to make a cameo appearance, we rush out and prep beds for seeding, seed, and transplant crops.  There is a comfort that the rain has brought to me, after a long and extra snowy winter, it is nice to know that it is now warm enough for rain.  The crops that we have seeded are taking advantage of the rain.  A walk around the farm today brings sights of many small crops popping up out of the soil.  Beets and carrots are thriving in the hoop houses.  Outside spinach, onions, peas, carrots, beets, lettuce and more poke out from underground.  Transplanted lettuce forms solid red and green blocks of color in the field.  Under row cover, which protects crops from damage done by flea beetles and other insects, cabbage, collards and kale are thriving after having been transplanted.  The buds on the trees are turning green and opening up.  The grass is starting to grow, bugs are arriving, birds are singing in the morning.  There is life to be found everywhere.
