Giants in Baseball

Baseball influenced me more than any other thing.

When we were visiting in California, my brother mentioned about the baseball teams we played on. He mentioned that when he played he exerted a great deal of energy to win. When I played on the same teams we always won. It seemed to come natural to me that we always did very well.






You can also tell who is bigger in this picture. There was a time when he would pick on me, but when I became taller the picking stopped.







Do you remember the story I told you about the time I was on first? It was near the end of the season. There was one out. I attempted to steal second base. I ran as fast as I could and was thrown out. As I reflect upon this, I realized I should have attempted this earlier in the season, or left the bag sooner.

Never before seen pictures from 1948

Hutton Day 1948

You thought Hutton Day was just a regional Holiday. Well they have been going on much longer than previously thought. All the family came over for a meal, just to be together. Just look at the spread. At least two pies, Jello desert with whipped cream. Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well.

This must have been a practice Hutton Day. Back then it could have been called Hanson day. But more likely it was a wedding shower.


The inspectors took a good hard look at this page, blew it up and rotated it on the signature on the card. It is signed, 'Sincerely yours, Judith Hanson'. Even a closer look and she is keeping track of the whole list in a book. Which reminds me have you written all your thank you notes?

Honeymoon 1948

Judy and Jr. passed by Niagra Falls on the way to Colorado. They were driving a new Packard, picked up in Detroit for Al Langendoerfer.

My father let his bride drive the car for her first time. He said when she went to pass a vehicle she got her self around the slow car, but forgot to get the rest of the car passed, before pulling back into the driving lane. My guess is they were not thinking much about the drive or the water falls. However they are lovely pictures.


 

Birthday at 15

On Rebeccas birthday, we had a family meal. As usual the birthdayee got to select the menu items including the style of cake. The specialty of the day was Lime cream pie and Strawberry cream pie. Yumee!

Horse Ride in Sringville

Rebecca and I went riding horses one day. We borrowed them from my friend Paul in Springville. Their names were Jack and Slash or Fatty. What a great time we had.

Hutton Day - Modesto

Here Cameron posed just long enough for me to take a picture of him and the door.






We declared this to be a Hutton Day.

You remember this is a regional Holiday. We got together had a BBQ, and they had a concert in the park that evening. They brought out the police complete with horses, had a band play patriotic songs, and tons of visitors. Parking was limited.

Duane thought this was a great tradition to follow.

Rebecca with Vernal Falls being lower and Nevada Falls being the upper.

John said if we would have come to Glacier point first he would have wanted to hike to the upper falls. Since we hiked first we only went as far as the lower falls.

These pictures only begin to demonstrate the gander of the location.

Vernal Falls

This is for everyone's reference. You can see just how far all the locations are.













The best part of visiting Yosemite in June is there is plenty of water for the falls. When hiking up to Vernal falls the mist drenches you from below as well as from above. Here we stop just before our final climb using the handrail.





Then when we got to the top is was wondrous and powerful. Duane wanted a picture standing by this tree, because he has one of Sarah and Trevor standing by this tree also. And where is the picture with Trevor and Sarah?

Yosemite Falls

The valley was over 100 degrees. As we approaced the falls the wind carried cool water into our faces which made Camerons hair stand straight up

Yosemite Falls is the tallest falls in the United States.

 

Cherokee Memorial Gardens

 On Sunday after attending the Lincoln Ward at the Eldorado Chapel we went to visit Papa's last resting place in Lodi right off of Hiway 99. This is a fitting place to be remembered by.

We also went to visit other county locations: the house on Turner Road, Lodi Ward, & Van Exel Dairy.

In the Salt Flats

On our trip to California, we stopped just long enough for Rebecca to show us all the salt. It was as wide as her arms and more. It was so big, it was more than a farsee.
