52-Feb

Well, I made it to the top of the hill again. It was not very much fun walking through the mud and snow. There were those places in the road with out much sun. I got my shoes muddy.

About half way up I heard sirens, many sirens. They just came comming. I hurried to the top of the hill. You know the place, where I could see into Provo Canyon. There at one of the curves everyone was huddled. For the longest time they were grouped together. I could not see the car that was damaged.

A Life Light helicopter came in, then they stopped all traffic in both directions. Then a chanel 5 helicopter came in. This one circled and circled. Then they both flew off. Then the traffic resumed. I was also on my way home.

Oh, where are the pictures. About half way up the mountain, my Ham Radio lost power. My backup battery lost power. My Camera did not have enough power to turn on. Plus my pre paid Cell phone was down to 5 minutes. I did have a water bottle and binoculars. But the rest of me was well spent. So much for preparation.

More Family

More family. Here is a picture from the same day with the rest of the family. Of course Junior was sitting next to his four sisters. Now here comes the rest of the family. Except I was not there that day.You may even recognize Judy. Oh, I wish you could all enjoy these family members as I do.

Foot hills - not again

Well I did not make it to the foothills again. It is not because it was too warm. It was another cold week. Very cold. I did make it outside. Here I am at work running a CNC Plate cutting machine. You can see all of the dials and selections on the console. This is a very intricate machine. We can crate parts on gauge plate, and plate that is several inches thick. The thickest I have cut was 12 inch plate. That was several years ago. We do not get those items very often.

Most of the time we are cutting plate that is 1.25 inch to 2 inch thick.
Now does this not look like I am running the Star Ship Enterprise?

Dance Recital

And here is the best Dance of the year.

52-4 Weeks in the foothills - kind of

Well I did make it to the foothills, but only to take a picture.

This week I was invited to play in a Raquet Ball Tournament with Rebecca at UVU.

I kept on telling everyone that when you are in your twenties you just play everything all the time.

When you are in your Thirties you start to feel some sore places.

When you are in your Forties you learn what Advil is.

When you are in your Fifties, you start taking Advil before and event and after the event.

Like 5-6 pills each time.

Then just sit back and enjoy the sunset.

$5.00

Sarah said she was confused on who these people are. I will give $5.00 to the first person to correctly identify all of these people and also tell who is missing.

No, make that $20.00.

Junior Hutton

Here is a wonderful Picture of Junior Hutton. What a marvel it is to have him in a suit and tie, when I know they came from a farm.

I received a letter from the Uncle Ron and Aunt Peggy this past week. They included this picture with the letter. Apparently one of Dad's school mates returned the picture to Ron and asked if he would return this to the family.

This is a great picture. Can you imagine the red hair? You will also notice the smile does not show teeth. My father had a broken tooth in the front and it was black. So he did not like to smile with pictures. The first thing he did when going into the Navy was to have a bridge made that would correct his smile. He also did not smile because his father did not like to smile in pictures. This was because in the early picture taking they had to stand still for long periods of time. But in this generation it was not so.

Did you ever hear about how Ron Hutton was adopted? I kinda remember my father saying "If you do not tell him I will!" They were talking about Ron. He wanted to join the army and could not because he did not have a birth certificate. So eventually he was told the truth and joined the army.

His mother was Mary McNair and his father was Ardon Alexander. Mary was Myrtle's younger sister.  Mary died at the birth of her first child - Ron. This is very comforting to know that my grandmother and grandfather had the desire to have a new child in their home.(I met Ardon Alexander one time)

Now lets talk a little bit more about these McNairs. The McNairs came to the states through Canada, migrating from Europe. Each generations moved a little farther south and west. John Currie McNair was one of these. He was born in Canada, married in Nebraska, and died in Kansas. His first wife was Adelaide Rose Hamblet. This is the mother of my grandmother Myrtle Alice Mcnair. Myrtles mother died when she was in her late teens. (Does this sound familar?) Her father remarried, but this 2nd marriage was to her cousin, Jennie Currie.

Now you remember what they say about marrying your cousin. In this family it was true. The children were a bit altered. Peter, Leland, Mary, Marie.

We went to visit Peter and Jennie one time. My mother never wanted to go back. However I still have a arrow head from this rock collector.

Marie, died while very young, Mary died at the birth of Ronald, Leland died of a gun shot would while crossing a barbed wire fence. Peter lived with his mother for the longest time.  My Uncle Ronald Hutton is his closest living relative.

So I really want you to remember Ron Hutton, Myrtle Hutton, Addie McNair, Jennie McNair, and Marie McNair. Are there any questions?

52-3 Weeks in the foothills

I tried to hike the trails again this week. Here is a picture that shows what the road is like. But it is not as good as M.C. Eshers, or this one, huh?

Here is a great view looking back in the valley. Where I am at is nice a clear, and cold. But back in the valley you can still see the smog.

52-2 Weeks in the foothills

I did not make it very far today. Mud stopped the travelling. However it was a great view of the county.
When I stopped the deer came out in droves. Here is one with one horn. This is the time of year they shed. My friend Paul Averett goes hunting for them.

52 Weeks in the Foothills part 2

Acts 26:28
Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

Or in other words: Almost thou persuadest me to hike these hills once per week for a year.
Thank you Mike Jones

Sleigh 2010

Aaron Nelson and Becca were very constructive during the Christmas break. Here they are riding the snow sleigh with packages ready for delivery to every girl and boy that was good during the year.
Which present is yours? These look good enough to eat.

Raquel took a break from baking rolls to observe the work. She was not ready for a Ride

Ask this old house how to build a tool box

To build this tool box you first need to place plywood on top and bottom. Glue was applied, as was 1.5" screws.

Here is the measurement to begin the sawing. The back of the box will be deeper than the front.

Here is where you start to saw. Yes, it needs to be cut all the way around the box the hard way, that is; with the grain of the wood

Here I am continuing to saw all the way around. By doing the cut this way, all corners of the tool box fit tightly into place. Notice: the big strong biceps I have. I also have great drops of sweat. Actual cutting time was only 1.5 hours.

Some helpers came by to observe quality workman ship

Here I am cutting the front doors

Some of the helpers relax by showing off in front of the camera.

After the doors were cut, it is time to install the hardware. These bolts go all the way through the frame to secure the doors.
