Where in the World are JR and Kristen

Christmas time was great for our family, as we got spoiled by everyone in so many ways. The best was just being with everyone and having a great time. We haven't had many opportunities over the past 4+ years of marriage to be with the whole family for extended periods, so we are definitely cherishing these times.

Cali has been growing in lots of ways. Her hand is healed and looking really good, though she will continue to have the glove on it for at least another year. She has begun to run everywhere instead of nicely walking (definitely a toddler), making for good exercise for mom and dad. She is still a short, petite little girl, but she is branching out in how much she talks and communicates in everything she does. She has found whining to be her communication of preference, a habit we are slowly breaking (lots of fun....). We didn't have a good family photo to send, so this one of Cali wearing my baseball cap from SUU was the next best thing. Besides, no one wants to see us anymore - just Cali. We just have the job of transporting her from social event to social event, where she can be happy and entertain. =)

Kristen has been busy caring for Cali and the home, as well as working a fun part-time job on Monday and Friday afternoons. She works up at Magnolia Grove reception center, the very place we had our reception 5 years ago. She loves being in that beautiful place, keeping busy and spending time with the family that runs it. Cali loves her Grandma and Grandpa time on those days as she gets to spend her afternoons with her Weeks family. They actually miss having us live there, so having Cali and Kristen visit as often as they do now is pure heaven.

Work for me has been exceptionally busy since the first of the year. BrainShare has keep me hopping, and finally getting to attend the conference that I design web content for was a big help. I was at the Salt Palace from March 17 - 24, working crazy hours on the BrainShare network and filling requests like mad. Over 6,000 people descended on the conference and the "party" ensued. What an amazing set up! I had no idea how much really went into something like this. I'm still trying to recover from the lack of sleep now at the end of this week, but some very positive things are happening with work. The future is bright, though very much wide open and still a little unknown.

Finally, we're looking to get into building a home out in, where else, Eagle Mountain! There is a neat subsidy program run by the county that brings 8 - 10 families together and teaches them how to build their own home, and oversees them in the process as they help build each other's homes. It takes about a year, but 10 homes are built (1300 sq ft w/unfinished basement), and we get 20% equity in the home from the start, with a subsidized mortgage payment for as long as we need it, based on income. It is a great opportunity that we are seriously considering. It will be a lot of work, but definitely worth it to us. So, take care, and we'll be seeing ya'll very soon.

Where in the World is Aaron Peterson

Well life is about normal for me. Just working! I am working at NuSkin and that's what two of those pictures are of. One is at my workbench in the lab and the other one is at my cubicle where I do other stuff. I also picked up a little side job to keep myself busy around where I live at Canyon Meadow. My official title is CommunityMaintenance Specialist, an over glorified title for clubhouse janitor and grounds cleaner-uper. ;)

I included that snazzy snapshot of Adam and myself because he is livingwith me along with my good friend J.D. We have a good time living down in the party town of Provo. Adam and I are sharing a room and that's fun because we never shared growing up. He is currently working at Tahitian Noni in the call center over in the Riverwoods at Noni'sheadquarters.

Other than that nothing too much is exciting with my life. I get to travel for work I go somewhere about once a month which is like a minivacation and all paid for by the company which is quite nice. I am dating as normal, but until anything gets serious I won't report as to whom the lucky gal would be. Ha ha.

Just Please Call

My brother Duane called today, in the middle of the day.

The last time he did this was to give me the news of my Grandmother Hanson in the plane that crash landed in the Potomac River in 1982.

This time he just wanted to know if I heard about my Uncle Alvin Langendoerfer passing away last week. Since the funeral was on Saturday, we heard about this too late to attend.

We should have been informed sooner, in case we would have wanted to attend.

If you get into a similar situation, JUST CALL.

On another note, I Googled 'Alvin Langendoerfer' and my uncles name is on the internet.

Go Figure.

1971 Year Book

Well, this is how it goes. You know I call my mother every Sunday evening. It is always the last item of the day. Most Sundays I am pretty beat by 9:00 pm., but I call her anyway. You know it really means a lot to her to visit with family.

It started out with how is the weather. She said it was sunny there, but then rained in the afternoon. I wanted to ask her about how the levee's were. How much more do they have to go before running over the top, but never got to it.

Then we got to other topics. She has always wanted to talk about my school friends. She gets to meet them every once in awhile. She tries to find out all the details. Sometimes she delivers a message for me to them. But this is really people that I have not seen since 1971, 35 years ago.

Of course I told her that I have read my Yearbook. Yeah I know it took me 35 years to really sit down and read it. Wow I sure had many great friends. They were all very talented and bright. I wish I could visit with them again someday. I have been told that many turned out like me, all just a little heavier than the high school picture.

Then she said she looks in my year book all the time. I asked her, "How do you do that, since I have it?" She tells me, "I have one." I ask her, "How?" She tells me that she got one from Ernestine Rough. I laugh. This is funny. My mother has a spare year book from 1971, and she reads it all the time.

Go Figure.

Trojan foot ball 1970

8-1-1 season.
The Lincoln Trojan varsity team enjoyed a prosperous season, combining an awesome defense with a potent offense. Known as "The Big Red Machine" the varsity went undefeated until the last game of the season. both offense and defense sparkled during the entire year.
.....
The Trojan defense was also outstanding. Led by Captain Charlie Boyd, the defense held its opponents to 188.4 yards per game. Defense standouts were John Huber, Gary Hutton, Rick Battershell, Steve McGraw, and Mike Moore. (The LOG 1971 year book, p 108)

The varsity football team was the real sweepstake's winner with a 64-0 victory over the East Union Lancers. The "Red Machine" rolled up yard after yard in their most convincing game. (The LOG, p. 26)

Cookie Jar

Do you remember this cookie jar? Do you remember where it came from and who gave it to us?

My mother saw the talents of one Helen Dollahaite. She was the artist and a potterer. She was so excited to have a cookie jar made for us. When she brought it on the plane it broke. She was then terribly heart broken. But then in town she found a man who said he could fix it. Apparently he made up a new base and used the mud to glue the cracks together. Then when it was ready he fired it up again. Wala.

Such bright colors, and fits into a kitchen.

This cookie jar reminds me of another that was at Rosewood. I saw mother purchase cookies. Then when I knew she was not going to be in the kitchen I started looking for them. I looked everywhere. I looked in every cabnet, every drawer, every nook and cranny. I looked in the cabnet in the garage, in the soap holders by the washing machine. But I could not find them.

Then the next day, she produce the package. I exclaimed to her where did you hide them? I looked all over for them. She never would tell me. Then as I think back I never looked in the oven. Who would put a new package of cookies in the oven?

Grandma Christensen - 102

Relia Christensen celebrated another birthday on Sunday. She is 102. Lets all enjoy her company while we still can.

Your Names

I found a scripture that talks about your names and why I gave them to you.

Basically it goes like this: I would that you should do well and keep the commandments. And I have given you the names of family members. And when you learn of the things which they have done, I would encourage you do do the same. Since they have done good, you should do good.

John Jeremiah Hutton, was given the name of his Grandfather Nelson and his great great grandfather Jeremiah Hutton.

Paul was given the name of his great grandfather Nelson, and my grandfather Hanson.

Sarah was named after 4 generations of women, Ann Raquel, Clarice Ann, Relia Ann and Sarah Ann Bailey.

Now Rebecca is just a little bit different. When looking for a name we joked about JonPaSar. But that didn't work. Then I said I wanted a Book of Mormon name. And the name we decided upon was Rebecca Marie. So I declared that Nephi must have had a sister with the name Rebecca. The other Rebekah is from the Old Testament. She was the wife if Isaac. Do you remember the story of how Isaac selected Rebekah to be his wife?

Now Becca can still look to the scriptures and be reminded of good works.

Since I have given you these names I have found many others worthy of being called after.
